MMS: Limani Hersonissou - IRAKLION!!!

Ultimo giorno di navigazione, ultimo imbarco, ultima pagaiata. Creta ha voluto lasciarci con il ricordo della sua vera anima, mandando ancora il suo messaggero: il Meltemi! Navighiamo sempre con vento contrario, tra 30 e 40 km orari. Il mare ci rallenta ma ha il gran pregio di bloccare a terra tutti i giochi acquatici ed il rombo del vento attutisce l'irritante animazione dei villaggi turistici. 10-5-3 km e poi finalmente entriamo nel grande porto di Iraklion: solo qui si può passare in kayak tra petroliere, cargo, traghetti e rimorchiatori in manovra! E' così bello sbarcare sullo stesso scivolo dal quale siamo partiti 30 giorni fa! E l'acqua per lavare umani ed attrezzatura è a disposizione dei naviganti! Due ore abbondanti per vuotare i kayak e sistemare ogni cosa nella Mauromobile, che ci ha atteso tanto a lungo nel parcheggio del porto. Stanchi ma contenti di avere completato il periplo nei tempi previsti, ci rifugiamo in una kantina sui colli per festeggiare la fine del viaggio...

Last day of sea kayak navigation, last start, last paddling.
Crete has wanted to leave us with the memory of its true soul, still sending us its messenger: the Meltemi!
We always paddle with contrary wind between 15 and 20 knots.
The sea has contrast us but it has had the big merit to stop all the aquatic games; the rhombus of the wind has reduced the irritating noise of the animation of the tourist villages.
5-3-1 n.m. and then we finally reach the great harbour of Iraklion: just here you can pass in kayak among oil-tankers, freighters, ferries and tows in manoeuvre!
It is so beautiful to land on the same ramp from which we have started 30 days ago!
And the water to wash humans and equipments is free for sailors!
Two abundant hours to void the kayaks and to place every thing in the car, that has attended us for a long time in the port car parking.
Tired but happy to have completed the tour in the expected times, we celebrate the end of the expedition in a local kantina...
