Oggi, approfittando della luna piena, ci siamo attardati a visitare gli scavi del palazzo minoico di Kato Zakros e abbiamo ripreso a pagaiare alle 17, dopo ben 5 ore di pausa.
Per avere uno sguardo d'insieme sulla bella costa orientale, segnata da gole profonde, paesaggi selvaggi e cale deserte perchè raggiungibili solo dal mare, scegliamo di navigare al largo, "sfruttando" il solito Meltemi che soffia imperterrito a 50-60 km orari.
Un paio d'ore impegnative, di sali scendi sui frangenti, in cui non sapevamo se preferire le onde alte senza raffiche o le raffiche che schiacciavano le onde.
Arriviamo alle 20 a Capo Plakas, con un altro lilliput-faro, e alle 22 al campo di Chiona, dopo un altro paio d'ore di mare mosso, sempre più nero man mano che la luna prende il posto del sole. La sua luce dorata ci aiuta ad individuare la spiaggia, un pò piccola ma accogliente: non abbiamo mai piantato la tenda così vicino all'acqua!
We want to paddle in a nighttime from the beginning of the expedition.
Today, taking advantage of the full moon, we have first visited the archeological site of Kato Zakros, the fourth minoic palace in the island, and then we have taken back to paddle at 5 p.m., after a 5 hours break.
To have a good look of the beautiful oriental coast, with deep throats, wild landscapes and desert beaches, we choose to paddle offshore, "exploiting" the usual Meltemi that blows fearless to 25-30 knots.
A couple of difficult hours, going up and down on the waves: we didn't know whether to prefer the tall waves without gusts or the gusts that crushed the waves.
We finally reach the last head at 8 p.m., with another "lilliput-lighthouse", and we have had to paddle for two hours more to land in Chiona, in a hard sea, more and more black as soon as the moon takes the place of the sun. Its gilded light helps us to find the beach, small but pleasant: we have never pick the tent so next to the water!
