Dopo la breve pausa a Vai, con il suo rigoglioso palmeto e con i suoi ombrelloni disposti su 6 file, puntiamo verso Capo Sideros, l'estrema punta NE battuta dal mare e dal vento, brulla e disabitata, con un vero faro alto su scogli e secche che rendono decisamente difficile ed impegnativa la navigazione, specie per il Meltemi che soffia forte da giorni.
Impieghiamo un'ora per superare i suoi 3 km più esposti e nella prima cala ridossata scoviamo una base militare non segnalata: ovviamente ci dicono che non possiamo sbarcare.
E' ormai il tramonto e l'ultima ora è resa oltremodo emozionante dal mare di poppa.
Fortuna che nella cala successiva ci sono Nikos e Maria ed i loro amici ed una tavola imbandita di ogni leccornia.
Quando arriva la Guardia Costiera, attivata dai militari alla nostra ricerca, noi stiamo pasteggiando con i nuovi amici cretesi! "We're looking for you", ci spiegano i due, e ci augurano un buon proseguimento verso Hania, nostra meta di oggi.
After the brief break in Vai, with a luxuriant palm groove and with 6 lines of sun umbrellas, we aim toward Head Sideros, the extreme NE point, bare and uninhabited, with a true tall lighthouse on the rocky clifves: the navigation there is decidedly difficult, expecially now that the Meltemi blows strong from days.
We employ a full hour to overcome more than 1 n.m. and in the first sheltered bay we discover a military site not indicated in the maps: obviously they tell us we cannot land there.
It is the sunset and the last time is made extremely exciting by the sea, the wind and the waves...
We're so lucky: in the following bay there are Nikos and Maria and their friends and a table full of a lot of delicious disches.
When the Coastal Guard arrives, activated by the soldiers to our search, we are eating and drinking with our new friends! "We're looking for you", they explain us, and than they wish us a good trip for the day after.
