Elafonissi - Sougia

Non è stato facile smontare il campo da Elafonissi: stamattina non c'era ancora nessuno sulla spiaggia e l'isola caraibica dalla sabbia rosa era tutta per noi...
Ma le prue dei nostri kayak reclamano l'est e così superiamo l'ultimo promontorio e puntiamo decisi verso Paleochora, con mare e vento finalmente a favore.
Ma la sosta in città è tutt'altro che piacevole: Tatiana rischia l'insolazione e Mauro l'arresto per avere sputato sul negozio della Vodafone!

La ricarica che abbiamo trovato dal giornalaio (!) non funziona e avendola aperta non se la vogliono riprendere... non solo abbiamo così regalato 30€ alla Vodafone, ma il tecnico del negozio di assistenza è assente e forse rientrerà dopo le 19! Sono solo le 14 e con il mare che ci chiama capiamo di avere perso fin troppo tempo appresso a Vodafone... per sbollire la rabbia ci strafoghiamo due succulente omelettes cretesi con olive, cipolle, pomodori e feta, 3 birre, un succo di limone, due dessert di yogurt con miele e frutta in pezzi e due greek coffee!

Torniamo finalmente in kayak, satolli ma ancora arrabbiati!

Il vento ha ripreso a soffiare deciso con raffiche a 35-40 km orari che ci fanno filare a tratti alla velocità di 13 km orari sul mare scuro e profondo; per recuperare il tempo perso in città ci spingiamo molto al largo per approfittare della spinta di vento e onde, così impieghiamo poco più di 4 ore di navigazione per coprire i 30 km giornalieri!

Ormai dimentichi dei guai Vodafone, sbarchiamo oltre un bel promontorio roccioso in un piccolo angolo di paradiso: non solo la spiaggia di ciottoli scuri che ospita un affollato campeggio libero è attrezzata con docce e bagni, ma il più bel pub del borgo fornisce GRATIS la connessione Internet!

Per 4,70€ di birra e limonata, passiamo una gran bella serata davanti al computer per inviare questo messaggio: l'atmosfera rilassata, la musica rock anni '80, le luci soffuse, l'odore del mare e la falce di luna in cielo contribuiscono a farci apprezzare questo paesino vivace ed accogliente...

Speriamo di poter continuare sempre così: connessioni facili ed immediate ad ogni sbarco serale, e tanti saluti a Vodafone!

Oggi abbiamo anche fatto incontri e conoscenze interessanti: ritroviamo i ragazzi che due sere fa erano seduti al tavolo vicino nella taverna di Limeniskos e nel porto di Paleochora incrociamo sul suo sit-on-top colorato il simpatico Bob, un inglese trasferitosi a Creta in pensione che gestisce il locale sito turistico e che sembrava entusiasta del nostro viaggio intorno alla sua isola d'adozione... come molti dei ragazzi della spiaggia di Sougia che a turno si avvicinano per chiederci informazioni e notizie: uno ci dice “Your trip is a dream”!

It has not been easy to leave Elafonissi: anybody was there still in the morning and the Caribbean beach with pink sand it was all for us...Our kayaks reclaim now the East and so we proceed directly to Paleochora, with sea and wind finally with us.But the standstill in the city is anything than pleasant: Tatiana risks an insolation and Mauro the arrest to have spit on the Vodafone shop!The recharge doesn't work and we so given a 30€ present to Vodafone, the technician of the assistance shop is absent and will perhaps reenter after 7 p.m.!We understand to have lost too much time with Vodafone: to forget the angry we stop in a tavern for two juicy cretan omelettes with olives, onions, tomatoes and feta, 3 beers, a juice of lemon, two desserts of yogurt with honey and fruit and two greek coffee!Let's finally came back to the kayaks, satiated but still angry!

The wind blows stronger and to recover the time lost in the city we push th kayaks offshore to take advantage of the push of wind and waves, so we employ few more than 4 hours of navigation to cover the daily 16 n.m.
We land in a little peace of paradise: free camping on the beach, equipped with showers and toilets, and above all the most beautiful pub with FREE Internet connection!
For 4,70 € of beer and lemonade, we spend an amazing evening with our lap-top to update the blog: relaxed atmosphere, rock music, soft lights, smell of the sea and a little scythe of moon in the sky contribute to appreciate this pleasant village...
We hope to continue this way: easy connections every night and best regards to Vodafone!
Today we have also had interesting meetings: we find again the guys sat to the near table in the tavern of Limeniskos and near Paleochora we cross on his sit-on-top Bob, a nice English man retired in Crete who manages the local tourist web-site: he seemed enthusiastic of our expedition around his island of adoption... as well as many boys on the beach that ask a lot of information. One of them says: "Your trip is a dream!"
