A special lecture in Israel with Dor-Kayak!

I due giorni di corso di eskimo groenlandese con gli amici del Dor-Kayak Club non potevano concludersi in modo migliore: un piacevole tardo pomeriggio in rilassata compagnia per una presentazione multilingue del nostro viaggio a Creta... multilingue nel senso che quando il mio scarso inglese non mi consentiva di raccontare anche i dettagli più insignificanti, allora il buon Tomas interveniva con traduzioni simultanee dall'italiano all'ebraico... e la serata è diventata così davvero speciale!
Ancora digiuni dopo le due sessioni mattutine in acqua per affinare le tecniche acquisite il giorno precedente, ci siamo ingozzati di falafel appena fatti, senza sapere che ci aspettava un piccolo ricevimento: nella bella sala del centro di accoglienza per bambini con disabilità mentali del cuore di Haifa, infatti, è stato allestito non solo lo schermo per la proiezione ma anche un buffet freddo, cui abbiamo volentieri partecipato... due pasti a distanza di pochi minuti, sono ampiamente meritati se si è avuta una giornata di "duro lavoro" in kayak !
Le seggioline colorate normalmente utilizzate dai bambini del centro per attività ricreative sono state per una sera occupate da canoisti di età decisamente più avanzata, un pò buffi così accoccolati in quello spazio luminoso ed accogliente... io ero semplicemente inginocchiata davanti al computer e più aumentava la mia stanchezza, meno trovavo le parole per raccontare la nostra esperienza a Creta... fortuna che molte delle immagini proposte parlano da sole, tanto che alcune hanno strappato anche fragorose risate!
Dopo l'incontro, sazi nel corpo e nello spirito, i miei ospiti mi hanno regalato una visita panoramica della città di Haifa, affacciata sull'unico porto naturale del paese ed appollaiata sul monte Carmelo da dove si gode un'ottima visuale sui famosi giardini Baha'i, sui lontani confini libanesi e sull'immenso mare blu...
E' stata certamente una delle presentazioni più esotiche cu siamo stati invitati!

The two days Greenland roll work shop with the friends of the Dor-Kayak Club in Israel could not end in a best way: a pleasant late afternoon in a relaxed company for a multilingual presentation of our last summer trip to Crete... multilingual, because when my poor English didn't allow me to tell about the most meaningless details, then the good Tomas translated from Italian to Hebrew... and the evening has been very special indeed!
After the two early-morning sessions in water to improve the Greenland manouvers learnt the day before, we are gobbled of falafel, unknowing that a little buffet was waited for us: in the beautiful room of the center for children with mental disabilties in Haifa, the screen has not only been prepared for the projection but also a cold sideboard, which we have participated gladly... two meals in few minutes, that's so good after a day of hard work in kayak!
The colored chairs normally used by the childrens for recreational activities have been for an evening occupied by canoeists decidedly of older age, so funny in that bright and pleasant space...
I had simply knelt in front of the computer and more and more my tiredness increases, than less and less my brain found the words to tell the Crete experience... but the lecture have a lot of "speak alone" pictures, so the meeting have had a lot of laughters too!
After the meeting, fulled in the body and in the spirit, my guests have given me a panoramic visit of the Haifa city, leaned out on the unique natural harbour of the country and perched on the Carmelo mountain, from where you can enjoy a good view to the famous Baha'i gardens, to the distant Lebanese borders and on the immense blue sea...
It certainly was one of the most exotic presentations of our sea kayak trip to Crete!
